HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone released by the body (created in the placenta) during pregnancy to stimulate the further production of progesterone from the ovaries. Since the 1950s, HCG has been a popular weight-loss tool and has been developed into its own diet which consists of 500 calories a day alongside HCG injections. This diet, known as the HCG diet, can produce astonishing results.
HCG is a hormone better known as human chorionic gonadotropin, which is present in high amounts in pregnant women. This protein-based hormone helps maintain the production of important hormones such as progesterone to support the healthy growth and development of the fetus and uterus. Blood levels of HCG decrease after the first 3 three months of pregnancy.
HCG affects the body differently for men and women, but it has been known to regulate hormone production in both genders. The most important function of HCG is the regulation of metabolism. Its second function is to turn fat into energy, acting as a natural fat burner. When fat is turned into energy, it automatically burns, even in the most difficult body parts, such as the hips, abdomen, and thighs. And finally, the final function of HCG is losing weight.
The HCG diet is a calorie-restrictive diet that recommends a maximum intake of 500 calories per day. In addition to this caloric restriction, this diet also promotes the administration of HCG injections on a regular basis; the frequency of these injections depends on patients’ needs and varies from one person to the next.
The HCG diets consist of:
– 1 Tbsp milk daily
– Chicken breast
– Fresh white fish
– Green salad (mixed)
– Red radishes
– Grissini breadstick
– Melba toast
The HCG protocols include:
Phase 1: Loading — Days 1 and 2 are Loading Days, during which you will eat ALL YOU CAN of fatty foods to load up your body’s normal fat stores. HCG injections are given both days, but the very low calorie diet will not start until Day 3. Rather than low quality refined sugar items, it is strongly recommended to eat healthy, rich, nutrient-dense foods during this phase. Attempting to skip the load days may cause you to feel hungry during the diet and may inhibit weight loss results.
Phase 2: Weight Loss — In Phase 2, you will begin the diet. It is important to remember that HCG is now triggering the release of 2000 stored fat calories as available energy for your body so you will not feel hungry and are receiving adequate nourishment. You will need to weigh your food and yourself as part of your daily routine. All beauty products that contain oils, including lotions and make up, must be avoided.
Phase 3: Lock In — After your last injection and until the HCG is out of your system, you must continue with the diet for 3 days. On day 4, you will begin a 3-week program which involves a 750-calorie diet. This is the most important part of our program and will help you keep the weight off permanently! This phase is of the utmost importance as it resets your hypothalamus gland to your new body weight.
Phase 4: Maintenance — During phase 4, you will slowly reintroduce healthy carbohydrates and unrefined sugars. You will be able to eat normally and maintain your weight loss if you have completed phase 3 properly. A few months after you start this final phase, it is advisable to have follow-up lab work. By following this protocol, you will be amazed at how many conditions will be corrected. You can follow up on a regular basis with one of our regular weight loss plans.
